PASTELS - OILS
"Sophie is a rigorous artist of a great sensitivity with an insatiable love for nature. She goes out looking for the light and its effects"
Marcel Moulin, pastel painter on the motif
“Sophie has a rare and precious power to bring forth the poetry in a discreet landscape. It is with an open heart and a keen eye that she traverses dunes and paths. She is not searching for a subject to paint, but waiting for one. When it presents itself, a powerful meeting takes place, her entire being radiates and her eyes sparkle. Between Sophie and the landscape, a game of seduction begins. She gives everything into this exchange: her energy and her sensitivity. With a mastered enthusiasm she paints a landscape made of both pigments and love"

Sophie Amauger, as seen by Marcel Moulin
The process of painting from life cannot really be considered as casual tourism, but more as an internal voyage where every sense is awakened to express who we are, as much as what we see… I have had the privilege of having shared some of these voyages with Sophie Amauger. Looking for excellence and unwavering in her expectations the path to creation isn’t always pastel-coloured!.. It is a path of life, with its enthusiasms and its doubts; its joys and fears… Sophie sometimes has to fight in her beloved outdoors, to find answers to pictorial problems or techniques, for the conditions are not always ideal: the wind, the first raindrops… and the light dims, she may have to return to truly show the beauty of the landscape and the emotion it wrought. She is a rigorous artist of a great sensitivity with an insatiable love for nature. Sophie goes out looking for the light and its effects. Her rich pallet and her light touch allow the birth of delicate and refined art works. Sophie Amauger’s artistic research is also a quest for beauty, influenced by spirituality and a humanistic quality. She takes the path that brings her to others, with whom she generously shares her knowledge, knowledge that I am glad to have also shared in our outdoor workshops, through moments of peaceful exchange and personal enrichment. I cannot wait until we meet again!
